Zaddacks are Ones Who Know.

An advanced sentient race, Zaddacks are the only species with the unusual history of having developed on more than one world. They have a high level of conscious access to their genetic memories, which date back to Creation. On many worlds they are considered sacred.

Physically they might resemble a Tasmanian Tiger crossed with a lion with a touch of wolf thrown in, were such a thing possible. They move on four legs and their paws are well adapted for running on loose sand. Their golden eyes have a nictitating membrane to deflect wind and debris and the tuft at the end of their tail keeps flying pests away. Their pale brindled-markings allow them to hide in the shadows cast by trees in mountainous areas while their fur blends well with stone and sand.

Emotionally they are Zen-like, thinking in a more circular pattern than humans who have the tendency to view things in a linear fashion. Zaddacks do not question as humans do. For the most part Zaddacks observe and accept, using their well-developed senses, including their mental sensory abilities, to decipher environmental data.

When the female Zaddack is in heat, the male Zaddack responds in an aggressive mating pattern which can leave one or the other dead. Should they both survive the encounter and the female be impregnated, she has the ability to suspend zygote development until the opportune time of her choosing. It is most unusual for there to be more than one offspring for a female during her lifetime.

Zaddacks have the ability to Bond with humans. Should you be chosen by a Zaddack when they are a kit and you a child, there is an exchange of mental energy and you each become part of the other. This Bond is so complete you will know each other’s thoughts and desires. As human you will feel what it is to run with four legs, while the Zaddack will know what it is to be a two-legged. —“And the two shall walk as one.”
